General Course in Drawing

This drawing course provides guidance and practice in observational pencil and charcoal drawing through the subjects of still life, outdoor drawing, portraiture and figure drawing (life drawing).

Through carefully planned lessons, a student will gain fundamental skills and a wider experience of drawing.  This can build a secure foundation for a more specialised drawing course (portraiture or life drawing), or to enhance the drawing aspect of oil painting.

The course consists of approximately 20 hours taught lesson time as well as some home-based practice assisgnments.

Note: The life drawing parts of this course carry the higher fee of £60 per hour.

Special Course in Portrait Drawing

This drawing course provides guidance and practice in portrait drawing using both pencil and charcoal.  Real life models and photographic sources are both used.

Through carefully planned lessons, a student will gain a more in-depth experience of portraiture to achieve personal likenesses and effective realism through accurate linear and tonal drawing.

The course consists of approximately 30 hours taught lesson time as well as some home-based practice assisgnments.

Special Course in Life Drawing

This drawing course provides guidance and practice in life drawing (figure drawing from live models) using both pencil and charcoal.

Through carefully planned lessons, a student will gain a more in-depth experience of life drawing to achieve effective realism through accurate linear and tonal figure drawing.

The course consists of approximately 30 hours taught lesson time.

Note: Due to the cost of life models, this course carries a higher hourly fee (£60 per hour).  The course can also be taken in pairs or small groups of three to reduce individual cost.
